Access Arrangements
Apply for access arrangements when registering. Evidence must be submitted with your application — incomplete applications are not processed.
Deadline — Autumn 2026 / January 2027
The deadline is the date by which all evidence for Access Arrangements must be completed and submitted.
Deadline — Summer 2027
Access Arrangements Deadline (including Modified Papers).
The above deadlines have been set to allow sufficient time for assessments, where necessary, and to conduct mock examinations in order to establish a student's normal way of working. However, we may still be able to accept applications based on the evidence available. Please contact the centre for further enquiries.
Applying for access arrangements
To apply for Access Arrangements, please complete the relevant section in our application form. If you discover that you need Access Arrangements after submitting your application, for instance, due to a recent injury, please contact the centre.
We regret that we are unable to accept applications from private (external) candidates who require the support of a reader or a scribe. Priority for these access arrangements is given to our internal candidates, and unfortunately, we have limited availability of suitable rooms and invigilators during examination periods.
Evidence that can be submitted
Evidence includes but is not limited to:
- An Individual Education Plan (IEP) or an Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
- Arrangements made for Key Stage 2 National Curriculum Tests
- Arrangements made for any previous internal and/or external examinations and assessments
- If you were granted Access Arrangements at a previous examination, a copy of the approval sheet from Access Arrangements Online
- Where relevant, centre-based evidence used by the previous centre to support an online application. This could include a fully completed Form 8 and must be accompanied by evidence of the assessor's qualification
- a sample of internal school tests/mock exam papers across relevant subjects showing the application of 25% extra time
- comments and observations from teaching staff in relevant subjects as to why the candidate needs 25% extra time and how they use the 25% extra time awarded.
IMPORTANT: Under no circumstances will we consider applications from prospective private candidates who submit outdated or incomplete documentation with the intention of providing the correct paperwork at a later stage. Similarly, any application for access arrangements related to a medical condition must be supported by a current, detailed letter or report from a hospital consultant or specialist doctor. This documentation must clearly outline the condition, the impact it is likely to have on examination performance, and any side effects from prescribed medication. Please note that letters from GPs will not be accepted under any circumstances; evidence must come from a consultant with expertise in the relevant medical field.
Regrettably, we cannot guarantee acceptance of all applications from private candidates requesting access arrangements. All decisions regarding such applications are final and non-negotiable.
