English Speaking Assessment
GCSE English Language spoken language endorsement — professionally supervised and recorded.
GCSE English Speaking Assessment
The GCSE English Language includes an endorsed component focused on spoken language. This endorsement is graded separately as Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Not Classified, and it does not affect the overall GCSE English Language qualification result.
While a candidate may opt out from the endorsement assessment, we strongly recommend that candidates take this assessment as many Further or Higher Education establishments and employers may require this part of the qualification.
After registering for your GCSE English examination, we will notify you of the assessment date and time for your speaking assessment. All speaking assessments are video recorded and may be submitted to the awarding body. The assessment is scheduled well before the written exams. A GCSE Speaking assessment grade can be carried forward from the previous year. If you wish to opt out from the speaking assessment and carry forward the previous series, please mention this in your application and provide us with evidence of your previous results (certificate or statement of results).
English Speaking Assessment takes the form of a formal presentation. Click here for more information.
Candidates who do not wish to take the GCSE English Language with Speaking Assessment may register for IGCSE English Language without the speaking component. Please give us a call to learn more.
